ICYMI: Governor Tim Walz Delivers Keynote Speech at Record-Breaking NHDP Fundraiser in Nashua

Walz’s Speech Highlighted the Democratic Momentum Sweeping the Granite State and Took Aim at the Need to Return a Democrat to the Corner Office in Concord

CONCORD, NH - On Friday, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, chair of the Democratic Governors Association (DGA), delivered the keynote speech at the 65th annual McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner to a fired up and sold out room of more than 450 Democrats from all across the Granite State. His efforts helped to raise more than $300,000 for the New Hampshire Democratic Party, a record for the annual fundraising dinner. Governor Walz made the impassioned case for the need to send a Democrat back to the corner office as part of a Democratic trifecta, and used his remarks as an opportunity to highlight the stark contrast between Kelly Ayotte and the Democratic candidates for Governor.

The Governor’s remarks were met with numerous standing ovations and was referred to as ‘one of the best speakers we’ve ever had at the dinner.’ In addition to delivering the keynote at the McIntyre Shaheen Dinner, Governor Walz visited the New Hampshire Biden-Harris headquarters, joined the monthly meeting of the Manchester Democrats, appeared on WMUR’s CloesUp to highlight the importance of the open Governor's race in New Hampshire and had breakfast with party leaders at the iconic Red Arrow Diner in Manchester.

“We are so grateful to Governor Walz for joining us and helping make the case for why we need to elect a Democrat to the corner office and support Democrats up and down the ticket this year, ” said NHDP Chairman Ray Buckley. “Our momentum is growing, and by electing a Democratic trifecta to the State House, we can follow Governor Walz’s blueprint to protect reproductive freedom and LGBTQ+ rights, support New Hampshire families and small businesses, and improve people’s lives across the state. Democrats from Pelham to Pittsburg are inspired and fired up to do the work needed to win in November.”

The McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner was founded in 1959 to support the candidacy of John F. Kennedy for President. Since 2010, the dinner has honored the work of the two most influential NH Democratic leaders in over a century  — Senators Tom McIntyre and Jeanne Shaheen.

U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, Congresswoman Annie Kuster, Congressman Chris Pappas, Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig, Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington, Minority Leader Donna Soucy, NH House Democratic Leader Matt Wilhelm, NHDP Chairman Ray Buckley, and others delivered speeches in front of the enthusiastic crowd detailing their priorities for the upcoming year, which centered around their work to elect Democrats across the state.

Senator Shaheen awarded Representative Patricia Cornell the McIntyre-Shaheen award for her work supporting public education in New Hampshire, and State Senator Donovan Fenton received an award from the NHDP in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the party.
