NHDP Statement: Governor Sununu needs to denounce his unqualified Education Commissioner’s crackpot theory

Concord, N.H. – At an event yesterday in Windham, N.H., newly confirmed Education Commissioner Frank Edelblut suggested that full-day kindergarten may result in more children being misdiagnosed with ADHD. NHDP Chairman Ray Buckley issued the following statement in response:

“Frank Edelblut’s baseless comment is exactly why state law requires the Governor to appoint people who are qualified for the job and not former political rivals. The long list of educators and parents who expressed deep concern have even more right to be concerned today. Governor Sununu must explain himself and denounce this statement. Just as concerning is the fact that Commissioner Edelblut seems uninterested in carrying out Sununu’s full-day kindergarten proposal. We need our state’s top education official to fight for better education for our kids instead of peddling crackpot theories while earning a government salary.”
